Voice Of Myanmar (VOM) is an online news agency, based in Mandalay, founded by the local journalists, to represent and produce the voices of the people of Myanmar.
As there are many challenges and hardships, many print media outlets and news agencies cut off their labor charges and some stop their production of daily and weekly newspapers that many journalists across the country become un-employed.
On the other hand, the freedom of expression, rights to information and press freedom of the country is falling. In this situation, VOM was established as an online news agency, based on the multimedia platform to take part on the promotion of freedom of expression, rights to information and press freedom in the country.
To stand as a main stream media based from Mandalay, our intention, on the other hand, is to reorganize the skilled and passionate journalists who currently are un-employed and have no news agencies to send their news.
Currently, Voice Of Myanmar’s reporters from Mandalay, Sagaing, Monywa, Katha, Kalay, Chin State, Naypyidaw, Prome, Rakhine State and Yangon are covering the news related to the peace process of the country, situation of the refugees from the conflict zone such as Rakhine state, Kachin State and Shan State, environmental issue, responsible tourism, economy, gender equality, health and education of the country, politic and current affairs.
